Yesterday [Thursday 12th June], our Associate Teachers visited Liverpool Football Club's Academy as part of an incredible opportunity to find out more about education in an elite sporting environment.
As part of the Enrichment Day, colleagues were given a tour of the multi-million pound, Category 1 Academy complex, before participating in a session with Ted Smith, the U18 Education Officer at Liverpool Football Club.
During the session, our ATs gained insights into the many complex challenges that teachers face when working with children who are progressing through academy ranks, in addition to progression routes that are avaialble for teachers to explore in the sporting industry.
Colleagues asked great questions on how to maintain strong relations between schools and clubs; how best to support young athletes facing high pressures and competing demands in the classroom, and the scouting system in England.
Irrespective of club loyalties, it was a great day that was incredibly useful for our ATs.
A massive thank you to Jane Goulding, our ITT Director, for arranging this amazing opportunity!
Please note that applications to our ITT programme, which starts in September 2025, are set to close on 4th July.
If you or anyone you know is interested in training to teach, there are only three weeks left to apply!
