Harry, a Year 4 pupil at Oakdene Primary Academy, was delighted this week after receiving a reply from His Majesty The King, following a letter that he wrote to Buckingham Palace as part of a reading lesson.
After reading Two Weeks with the Queen in class, Harry was inspired to write to our Head of State to describe how pupils are learning about respect, tolerance, democracy and the rule of law at Oakdene.
He also extended a special invitation to The King, asking if he would visit Oakdene to take part in one of the school's upcoming assemblies on British values.
In his reply, The King thanked Harry for his letter and praised Oakdene’s commitment to promoting British Values.
He conveyed his best wishes to all pupils and staff at the school.
As a community, Oakdene has rightly celebrated this as an inspiring example of pupil engagement which highlights the importance of encouraging children to take an active interest in national life.
